In a significant development, it has been revealed that the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project is slated to be completed by December 2027. This announcement came during the State-level Project Monitoring Committee meeting held today at Lok Seva Bhavan, focusing on the project’s first phase.
Chaired by Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, the meeting delved into various aspects of the project, including platform preparations, financial arrangements, and technical specifications. An official statement highlighted that critical tasks such as tendering for civil works, utility relocations, land planning, and structural arrangements are expected to be finalised within the next six to eight months.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in January 2024, setting the stage for the ambitious endeavour. The projected completion date underscores the commitment of the authorities towards enhancing urban transportation infrastructure in Bhubaneswar. Once operational, the metro rail system is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, improve connectivity, and promote sustainable urban development in the region.
